Angkor Alchemy: Laying the Foundation for Our Start-up

We are excited to introduce our new project, Angkor Alchemy – the result of years of preparation and close collaboration with our long-standing partners. From our office THAT ENVIRONMENT in Siem Reap, Cambodia, we are launching a start-up that transforms plastic waste into oil, which is then used as an energy source to produce biochar – based on the innovative prototype design of our partner Stavolt AG.

The Starting Point: Seed Funding for Prototype, App, and Storytelling

Our next milestone is securing seed funding. This will enable us to build our modular prototype, develop our Data Tech & Community App, and produce film and social media content. The app development and audiovisual storytelling will be carried out in close collaboration with That GmbH in Switzerland, contributing creative and technical expertise to this endeavor.

This strategic development underscores our commitment to making a sustainable contribution to the circular economy in Southeast Asia through innovative technologies and strong partnerships – while continuing to offer our existing clients the same professionalism and reliability they value.

We moved to the Telli Ost district

We are pleased to announce that we have moved into our new office in the Telli Ost district of Aarau. After 7 years in our previous office in the Kern-Areal in the Aarauer Schachen, it was time for a change. The Telli Ost district is currently undergoing a period of active development and we believe this will provide us with ideal conditions for our own growth and development.

Telli Ost is planned to be a mixed-use, urban and dense neighbourhood with 800 to 1000 residents and the same number of jobs. We believe it will be a vibrant and exciting place to work and live, and we look forward to being part of it.

Our own office is also going through a period of dynamic development. We are expanding our operations and opening a new office in Cambodia. This move is an important step for us in furthering our vision of sustainable and forward-looking development.

New Look for the 7th Anniversary of THAT LLC

At the end of 2021, we commissioned graphic designers André Hartmann of ISI Create and Michelle Stark of WirkungsStark to develop a new company logo and website. After a long process, we realised in mid-2023 that there was more to this new look than we had originally thought.

The long development time was due to the fact that during this phase we established our branch in Cambodia and moved our office to the Telli OST district. So it was not just a visual redesign, but a step forward for our company after 7 years of THAT LLC.

We wanted to express our creativity and commitment to the environment in the design of the logo and the choice of colours. The logo contains all four letters of our company name, THAT, but each of the four elements is congruent – meaning that each element is geometrically identical and has simply been mirrored or rotated, as can be seen in our opener. The colour green represents our focus on the environment.
